Bullies in Schools and What You Can Do About It


Bullying is a growing concern for educational institutions, both private and public. Studies show that bullying continues to be an enormous problem with significant negative consequences. It doesn't only have physical repercussions but also has psychological and social impacts. Bullying is becoming a widespread problem. 1. Promote Healthy Relationships

Ask your kids to make a difference by joining the school or community club that interests them. Make it clear that you expect your kids to be welcomed and respected. It is important to treat people well so that you can build a positive image and reputation.

2. Address the Problem

Once you have identified potential problem areas, set up meetings with the school administration and/or teachers to discuss the situation. Have your kids participate in the meeting. Be sure that they understand why you are meeting and what the solution will be. Try to get an understanding of why some incidents happen and how teachers and administrators can fix them. Having this information can help many students and staff deal with problems.

3. Minimize Negative Behavior

There are many ways to address the behavior of bully kids. You can talk to them about the behavior that makes them feel uncomfortable. Talk about consequences for the bullies. Teach kids how to deal with criticism constructively.

4. Create Policies for Bullying Prevention

Even if you are not able to eliminate bullying in the school from the classroom there are many things that you can do to prevent it from happening. There are many resources available online that you can download to help you create anti-bullying policies. Write down a few policy statements that you can implement in the school that will cover the different types of bullying that occur. Talk about these policy statements and their implementation. Create a bullying prevention handbook for the school that is used by the entire school staff.

Remember that bullying is a problem that affects kids of all ages. If you feel that bullying in the school is affecting your child negatively, seek help from professionals. There are many great organizations that can help you get the support you need for your child and other kids that are affected. Educate yourself and make your child's life safe.

5. Create Positive School Policies

Do not let bullying to be a part of your school's policy. The school should be a place of learning and comfort for all students. Always talk about what is happening in class, let the kids know that they have nothing to worry about. If a kid is feeling vulnerable, tell him or her that the problem is going to be handled. Create a positive school environment by dealing with any bullying issues that may arise.

6. Give Children More Than Books

Let your children learn by doing. Read to them, play with them, let them have group projects, and have them work in teams. Playing together can help them bond and interact as a group. Talk about the games that they are going to play together. Let them take turns playing the lead role in the game. You can also find resources online that can help with homework and other tasks.
